ACH had rock hard pads

Kits: 1. Hometown: Opelika, AL. Heard about us: Online. Duties: See Comments. Current Pads: Old Leather and web suspension. Comments: I am AD USAF and do not have a currently projected deployment. My last deployment to Kandahar I was issued the ACH but had rock hard pads that I could not wear more than 15 mins without it hurting my head. I tried every which way to adjust them, but the side pads pressed most into my head causing noticeable discomfort/pain after prolonged wear. I have a rather large head and the pads that are issued to me seem to cause the helmet to sit more onto of my head thank actually nestling in it. In order to ‘wear it’, I let the chin strap loose so it ‘sat’ on my head. I have since obtained my own PASGT helmet in Large for future use to eliminate improper fitting helmets that hurt. I prefer this helmet because of the greater coverage and larger size for my noggin. I learned about the pad conversion recently and was thrilled as the only draw back to PASGT is the two point strap. I would like to request a set of pads and understand that this program is for those deploying or deployed, I don’t want to detract from the good work you are doing. I didn’t know if it was possible to make a donation of $28.00 since you can get them at cost for set. I cannot currently afford the cost of $130 new. Thank you for your help, and the awesome organization you run! It makes me proud when ever I hear about awesome organization that haven’t forgotten about us and what we are doing!! SSgt, USAF
