Soldiers will loosen or remove chin straps as well as removing the helmet altogether to get relief

From a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) ‘somewhere’ in Africa/Middle East: The current pads are terrible, they are hard and are extremely uncomfortable to wear for short periods of time let alone a full duty day or convoy. They cause headaches and unwarranted fatigue, and a safety concern as well being that soldiers will loosen or remove chin straps as well as removing the helmet altogether to get relief. There is nothing good about the new pads. Thanks again for hooking up my squad. SGT, USArmy
